St Louis Park, MN
Hello,
Last month I had the opportunity to speak at the Oticon Summer Camp out in Keystone, Colorado. At this annual 5 day conference Oticon brings together over 100 audiology doctoral candidates to expose them to the field of audiology. This is the second time that I’ve been honored with the chance to talk to these rising audiologists and share with them my personal and professional experiences within the field.
I spoke with the students about my experiences in the private practice sector of audiology. I really enjoyed meeting these young people who are just beginning their careers in audiology. It was a great opportunity to reach out to the next generation of audiologists and share with them my enthusiasm for the field.
I also have to admit that I loved the location. Growing up my family always took summer camping trips in the mountains. We’d all pile into my dad’s sedan, towing a pop-up trailer behind us. In college one of my best friends was from Colorado, and during breaks we’d head out there for ski trips. I actually learned to ski in Keystone, and as I stood in the chalet speaking to the audiology students, I couldn't help but thinking about the numerous wipe-outs I made on the slopes behind us.
I've never really gotten over my love of the mountains. My daughter Elia recently moved to Colorado Springs to teach, and I think she's well aware that's she's living in my dream location. On the bright side, her move means that I have more excuses to visit The Rockies...
I hope that you all are doing well and enjoying these beautiful late summer weeks.
Sincerely,
-Kurt T. Pfaff Au.D
